Please Do Not Underestimate Your Ability to Bounce Back

Dear Badass Black Girls,
When we learn to let go, we find a way to happiness even when it’s different from what we planned. We also bounce back from bad experiences much faster than we expect.
Letting go is NOT about rejecting, ignoring, or avoiding our pain. It’s much healthier to welcome emotions, positive and negative, and not fight against them, so that you can then more easily accept them. Letting go is knowing how to take a step back to free yourself from your emotions and fears.
According to American-born Swiss singer, songwriter, and actress Tina Turner, “Sometimes, you’ve got to let everything go—purge yourself. If you are unhappy with anything…whatever is bringing you down, get rid of it. Because you’ll find that when you’re free, your true creativity, your true self comes out.” Letting go allows us to find inner peace instead of fighting against ourselves. It’s a state of balance between who we are, what we want, and what goes on inside of us.
No more dark thoughts. Do not torture your mind with things that are not worth your time. By remaining optimistic and practicing gratitude, you can more easily find solutions to your problems. Be realistic, but remain positive.
Concentrate on the positive.
Be proud.
Be fierce.
Learn to love the girl you are, because you deserve to be loved exactly as you are right now. But don’t be afraid to become the person you dream of becoming.
Trust yourself.
Make mistakes.
Don’t forget to breathe.
Show empathy.
Open your heart, your arms, your eyes, and your mind.
Look around you.
Listen to others.
Take notes.
